Carbon Reduction Plan for medico partners limited
We are committed to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2040, in line with the UK government’s legal commitment and the Procurement Policy Note 06/2. We recognise that reducing our greenhouse gas emissions represents
significant benefits for us, our clients, suppliers, and the wider community. We also acknowledge that we have a responsibility to contribute to the global efforts to tackle climate change and its impacts.
This Carbon Reduction Plan covers the strategies for our ongoing commitment to the management and reduction of our business-related carbon emissions. The plan will cover our baseline year information, setting clear targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions over key timeframes, and listing our planned projects to achieve carbon net zero by 2050.
Baseline year information
Our baseline year for measuring our greenhouse gas emissions is 2022/23. We have used the GHG protocol’s corporate standard to calculate our emissions, using the operational control approach. This means that we report on the emissions from the operations that we have full authority to introduce and implement operating policies.
We have reported on the following emission sources and greenhouse gases:
- Scope 1: direct emissions from sources that we own or control, such as natural gas consumption for heating and fuel consumption for company-owned vehicles. We have reported on carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O).
- Scope 2: indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, heat, or steam that we consume. We have reported on CO2, CH4, and N2O.
- Scope 3: other indirect emissions from sources that we do not own or control, but are related to our activities, such as business travel, employee commuting, waste disposal, and purchased goods and services.
We have used the emission factors from the UK government’s GHG conversion factors for company reporting to convert our activity data into CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions.
Our total greenhouse gas emissions for the baseline year 2022/23 were 489tonnes of CO2e. The breakdown of our emissions by scope and source is shown in the table below:
| Scope | Source | Emissions (tonnes CO2e)
|——-|——–|————————-|——————————|
| Scope 1 | Natural gas | 25
| Scope 1 | Fuel | 40
| Scope 2 | Electricity | 110
| Scope 3 | Business travel | 90
| Scope 3 | Employee commuting | 145
| Scope 3 | Waste disposal | 12
| Scope 3 | Purchased goods and services | 67
| Total | | 489 | 100% |
